Come and experience the joy of rowing on the River Thames.
Rowing promotes a healthy, active lifestyle to participants from all backgrounds and may readily be enjoyed by mixed groups of men and women together. No experience is necessary and for those who might not think of themselves as ‘sporty’, it’s a wonderful alternative to the more traditional sports.
Experience the wonderful sights of the River Thames from afloat and at the pace that you are comfortable with. Maybe you are interested in a weekly evening row with friends as a regular fitness activity, or a one-off day's expedition at the weekend?
Our skerries can be made available for charter on evenings and weekends whenever they are not being used for our core Skerries for Schools and Thames Community Rowing activities.
How does it work?
We provide the boats and equipment with an appropriate level of preparation and/or supervision depending on the circumstances of your charter. Depending on your level of experience we may require you, or you may opt, to be accompanied by one of our British Rowing trained coaches.
How many participants can we take rowing?
Each skerry is able to take 11 participants including the coxswain. Allow for one less if you need to be accompanied by one of our coaches. The minimum number of participants for one skerry is 4 and a coxswain. At Richmond you can book upto 4 skerries whereas at Reading or Thames Ditton you can only book one skerry.
What do our charters cost?
We run our boat chartering activity for fund-raising purposes. Our rates depend on the circumstances of the charter such as youth group or adults, duration and number of rowing sessions.
We also run a special package for the annual Great River Race, the most prestigious event of its kind in Europe and attracting about 300 crews every year. Find out more about our special Great River Race charter package here.
