Who is this for?
Rowing is great for developing teamwork, self-confidence and discipline. It promotes a healthy, active lifestyle to participants from all backgrounds and provides an alternative activity for mixed groups. No experience is necessary and for those who might not think of themselves as ‘sporty’, it’s a wonderful alternative to the more traditional sports.
Come and experience the joy of rowing on the River Thames.
Our aim is to enable adults groups, who would not normally have access to the river, to discover the discipline and excitement of rowing, and the pleasure of being out on the water in a safe, friendly environment.
How does it work?
We provide the boats and the expert coaching to enable your participants, starting from scratch, to quickly learn how to row. All you have to do, once you have booked, is get your group there and we do the rest.
How many participants can we bring to each session?
Each skerry is able to take 10 participants and the TCR coach (11 in all). The minimum number of participants for one skerry is 4. At Richmond you can book upto 4 skerries whereas at Reading or Thames Ditton you can only book one skerry.
Our Coaches.
All our sessions are led by a British Rowing qualified coach who also holds a current first aid qualification and has trained in Safeguarding. All of our coaches and other boating volunteers have undergone Disclosure and Barring Checks.
What will the session cost?
TCR is not looking to make a profit, however we have some basic costs to cover to ensure the boats are safe and the right equipment is in place. We offer one-hour, single skerry sessions for £45. For bookings of linked sessions (with the same group), the cost is £30 for each boat session from the second session onwards.
Can participants earn a qualification?
We offer the British Rowing 'Learn to Row' certificate which requires participation in six linked sessions.
